Matted Pet Release
About Mats
A mat is basically a mass of tangled hair, but might also
be held together by burrs or barbs from plants, particles of skin dander or other
debris. Sometimes mats start quite close to the pet's skin, making it difficult,
if not impossible, to see the skin beneath.
-
A matted coat can cause and hide skin that is red, irritated,
swollen, or cracked
-
A matted coat can conceal the presence of fleas or other
pests
-
A matted coat can make it impossible to determine in advance
the presence of any moles, scabs, or other conditions on the pet's skin.
-
A matted coat can prevent a pet's skin from completely
drying if it becomes wet, a situation that is also conducive to causing skin problems.
-
The grooming process necessary to remove the matted coat
may aggravate the pet's skin.
PETSAppeal Inc.'s Care
Your pet stylist/bather will use all care and precautions
during this procedure, but a matted pet may experience reactions such as hot spots
and irritated or sensitive skin. In addition, shaving the pet may reveal pre-existing
skin conditions that we were unable to determine beneath the matting. Should
a pre-existing condition require immediate medical attention, we will attempt to
contact you and take your pet to our veterinarian; the charges will be added to
your invoice.
Pet Parent Consent
By leaving a matted pet in the care of PETSAppeal
Inc., you agree to the following terms:
Due to the amount of matting in your pet's coat, you agree
that all or part of the coat cannot be saved without causing undue discomfort to
your pet. You therefore authorize PETSAppeal Inc. to remove (shave down) your
pet's coat.
You release PETSAppeal Inc. from any and all liability
for any skin condition that might be revealed by the removal of the matted coat.
You understand that such pre-existing conditions are not the responsibility of PETSAppeal,
Inc.. Revealed medical conditions may require veterinary care and you will
assume all financial responsibility for any such expense.
Abandoned Animals
The owner/guardian(s) of any animal left in the care of PETSAppeal Inc. for any

(2) Having been placed in such custody for a specified period of time the animal
is not removed at the end of such specified period or the person depositing the

for the care of such animals or to any pound maintained by or under contract or
agreement with any city or county within which such animal was abandoned. If no
such humane society or pound exists within the county the person with whom the animal
was abandoned may notify the sheriff of the county wherein the abandonment occurred.
16.54.030. Duty of sheriff--Sale--Disposition of proceeds
It shall be the duty of the sheriff of such county upon being so notified, to dispose
of such animal as provided by law in reference to estrays if such law is applicable
to the animal abandoned, or if not so applicable then such animal shall be sold
by the sheriff at public auction. Notice of any such sale shall be given by posting
a notice in three public places in the county at least ten days prior to such public
sale. Proceeds of such sale shall be paid to the county treasurer for deposit in
the county general fund.
